Kang Seong-wook (Sungkyunkwan University 1st, 181cm), the ace of the U19 national team, pledged to do well in the World Cup.
The Korean U19 men’s basketball team won 85-78 in a practice match against Sungkyunkwan University held on the 10th at the Sungkyunkwan University Nature Campus Gymnasium. The one who stood out by far was Kang Sung-wook. He led the national team with accurate outside shots and steals followed by fast attacks.
Kang Seong-wook said, “I have a lot of friends who were with me in the U18 national team last year. He has new younger siblings from his senior year of high school, so he is focusing on getting his hands and feet aligned. I think he needs to get more into defense and off-the-ball movement,” he said.
On this day, Kang Seong-wook met his team, Sungkyunkwan University, as an enemy. He greeted his teammates he hadn’t seen in a while with a smile on his face, but after the game started, he did his best to help the national team win.
Kang Seong-wook said, “It was very fun. It was comfortable knowing how Sungkyunkwan University defends itself. There was no pressure because it was the team he belonged to,” he laughed.
Last year, Korea accomplished a feat of winning the U18 Asian Men’s Basketball Championship for the first time in 22 years. At that time, the protagonists of the championship were Kang Seong-wook, Lee Ju-young, and Lee Chae-hyung. However, Lee Joo-young and Lee Chae-hyeong could not join the national team due to injuries. Therefore, Kang Sung-wook should play the role of an ace.
“It is more important for me to be in harmony with my colleagues than to play the role of an ace. I want to talk on defense and get good results by adjusting well. I will take a small portion of the ace and help him lead the team well.” Sungwook Kang says:토토사이트
The national team will depart for Hungary on the 21st to compete in the 2023 FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup. Korea’s opponents are Hungary, Turkey, and Argentina. It is expected to be a difficult game for all.
Kang Seong-wook said, “It’s been a while since I started training, so the defense is very lacking. He seems to have to refine his organizational skills during practice and work hard at talking. In the offense, I will be able to take patterns and motion offenses under the guidance of coach Lee Se-beom.”
