Vietnam’s reclusive master’ Mamin Calm (NH Nonghyup Card) has finally reached the top of the Professional Billiards (PBA) individual tour. This is the first win for a Vietnamese player. 

Mamin Calm defeated Oh Tae-joon in the men’s final of the ‘High1 Resort PBA-LPBA Championship 2022’ held at High1 Resort in Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do on the 16th. The set score was 4 to 1 (7-15 15-12 15-10 15-8 15-10) and won the championship.

It is his first PBA Tour victory. Maminkam joined the PBA tour from the 2020-2021 season, and the top 4 was the best result. Last season, the quarterfinals were the best, and the round of 16 was the best result in the four tours this season. His reputation as a strong player in Vietnam was overshadowed.

However, Mamincalm showed off its presence as the natural enemy of the strongest Frederick Kudron (Welcome Savings Bank, Belgium). In the third round of the round of 32 group stage of the SK Rent-A-Car PBA World Championship 2022, Mamincalm stopped Kudlong from winning 24 consecutive PBA wins, winning 3 wins and 1 loss.

Such Maminkam reached the top after only the 5th tour this season, and finally stood tall from a reclusive master to a strong player. After defeating teammate Kim Hyun-woo in the semifinals, he calmed NH Nonghyup Card member Oh Tae-joon’s storm before joining him in the final.

In the final, Maminkam gained momentum by scoring 6 points in a 9-10 inferiority in the 3rd set against the set score 1-1. In the 4th set, he also showed exciting cross-cutting shots, and while leading 13 to 5, he accumulated points one by one and finished with a side turn to seize the victory.

In the 5th set, Maminkam tied the game with a 10-inning deflection behind 3-5. Even in the 13th inning, where he was behind 5 to 8, he achieved a turnaround with elaborate back and side turns and one bank. Oh Tae-jun also tied the score at 10-10 with a 3-bank shot, but Maminkam completely changed the atmosphere with an exquisite 2-bank shot. Maminkam, who earned a match point with a sideways spin, finished the match with a neat backspin. 스포츠토토

Oh Tae-joon made a sensation this season after overcoming the disappointment of having to leave his team after dropping out of the first part of the tour last season. In particular, in the semifinals, he vomited his spirit by defeating his teacher and former captain of NH Nonghyup Card, Jo Jae-ho, after a close match, but unfortunately had to be satisfied with the runner-up.
