San Francisco could trade the rough for the next week. If no team wants him in the rough, they will either send him to the minor leagues or release him.

San Francisco selected Schmidt’s contract that day, returning Ruff from the injured list and then DFA.

Ruff signed with San Francisco after being released by the New York Mets.

He appeared in nine games and posted a .261/.370/.348 slash in 27 at bats before being placed on the disabled list with a wrist injury.

Ruff hit .248/.358/.455 in 726 plate appearances for San Francisco from 2020 through the 2022 trade deadline.

However, after he was traded to the Mets, he only hit .152/.216/.197 in 74 plate appearances.

Attention is focusing on where Ruff’s next destination will be.
